A ripped flour bag

First of all I'm on my Aunt's computer right now because my house still has no power. I WILL NOT be back this week, meaning I MOST LIKELY will not be back until Thursday or Friday THIS WEEK. Depressing yes. Only one good thing came out of this. . .I got to work on my drawing skills. I've drawn two potraits of random people from magazines and they are great for a beginner. . .I think.
So with the title of my post, one of my beagles, Violet (the eldest), tore open a bag of flour. I made a flour sack baby for a camp that I did and left it high up on my nightstand. For some stupid reason or other, my idiot dog (she's so adorable though!) stood on her hind legs, dragged the sack (rather bag) to the floor and broke it open. If this had been a real baby, it's leg would have been torn off and guts everywhere. LUCKILY THIS IS NOT A REAL BABY. And there is flour everywhere. I emphazized it with italics and bold print.  My room and whole upstairs smells like flour. Blauhgh. Talk about nasty. So I sprayed perfume everywhere. :) Great solution, great smelling!
So, we'er having dinner at my Aunt's house, and leaving the dogs at home. Hopefully, we won't have to stay the night. -_- Well, our dogs would stay at home and then we would come back at like 6 in the morning and wake them up, then my mom would leave for work and my dad would have already left.
I'm going to nom my Roman Noodles, so check my Twitter for updates on my computer/power/electricity/dog's status. :P
I love you loyal followers!!

P.S. I'm super sorry for any misspellings, this computer doesn't have spell check for it's internet browser.

Bad Irene, Bad!

I probably won't be on the computer because of the hurricane coming aka Irene meaning that I won't be able to update my blog and all that sort of good stuff. I'm not happy about this and I know that some people are evacuating in the state that I live in. :/
I'm super sorry that I won't be here from PROBABLY 26-29.

Love ya'll bunches,

The Word Bird

This is my every Tuesday meme. . . I don't really know what a meme really is, but I know that it's always on a certain day every week and you talk a lot in your post. XD That's all I honestly know about memes.
ONTO THE POST! BTW, this was inspired by this.

Where I am in the writing process:
Really? Uhg, don't get me started. I scrapped the eight pages that I was going to get
critiqued and I just decided to do a different novel. Not a good idea, but I'm hooked on this novel. I mean, it's like Pretty Little Liars only MUCH better. . . Okay, so I'm not Sara Shepard but still, it will be just as good. Anyway, I have no time to get writing because I'm doing art camp with two of my friends it's SOOOO fun. We had nap time on the playground to day and I'm thirteen. Yeah, it was awesome. We all say down on the rubber playground surface thing and it was epic. Then we went inside and the EARTHQUAKE happened! Thirty minutes later we all realized at the same time that we had just been in an earthquake. OH YEAH!

My current problems: Well, let's just say, I hope that Irene (the hurricane) doesn't hit because I can't find my flashdrive! XD

My question this week (to all of you awesome folk):
What is your favorite thing about reading? The characters, the ability to be sucked into another world, or just the fantasy thing? :)

Since I read Pride and Prejudice. . .

Since I read Pride and Prejudice last year, I thought that I should mention Pride and Popularity by Jenni James. It's a modern retelling of P&P and so far it has some pretty good ratings! On Amazon it's average is around 5 stars and on Goodreads it's 4 stars! That sounds like a pretty good book just  because of the ratings.

Now here's the summary.

Taylor always gets what he wants—until now.

Chloe Elizabeth Hart despises the conceited antics of the popular crowd, or more importantly, one very annoying self-possessed guy, Taylor Anderson, who seems determined to make her the president of his fan club! As if! Every girl in the whole city of Farmington, New Mexico, is in love with him, but he seems to be only interested in Chloe.

This modern high school adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is a battle of wits as Chloe desperately tries to remain the only girl who can avoid the inevitable—falling for Taylor.

((From Goodreads.com))

And here are some reviews if that summary isn't convincing you to read it!

Pride & Popularity's characters come alive under Jenni James's skillful hand. She pulled me both into the story and into Chloe s hilarious predicaments, making me forget I've been out of high school for years. This book has wide appeal, and readers of all ages and circumstances will find themselves falling in love with Taylor, while laughing at Chloe's reactions to him. --Andrea Pearson, author of The Key of Kilenya.

This book was unputdownable. I highly recommend it to any fan of Jane Austen, young or old. Impatiently awaiting the rest of the series. --Jenny Ellis, Librarian and Lifetime Member, Jane Austen Society of North America.

It's clear from the opening chapter just what an exciting and distinctive new voice in YA this talented writer is; she's going to be huge. Don't be the last one to get round to reading her amazing work. --AJ Cole, author of The Scarmap

Pride & Popularity is a delightful romantic comedy that will tug on the heartstrings of ladies regardless of their age. Jaded against the popular crowd, Chloe Heart evades, dodge,s and eludes high school heartthrob Taylor Anderson in this updated retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The fast-paced storyline will draw you in while the characters enchant you and charm your pants off. If you re-looking for a refreshing reminder of how young, innocent love can break through even the most prideful of prejudices, you don't want to miss this one. --Amanda Washington, author of Chronicles of the Broken

And you ya want to hear what real live readers are saying?

Amy [from GoodReads] says. . . .

I'm a sucker for books that retell Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. P&P is my all time favorite book with my favorite literary couple in it. Pride & Popularity was a sweet & romantic retelling with a great cast of characters. I had a fun time matching up the characters in Pride & Popularity with the characters from the original. I caught myself calling out "that's Mr. Collins" or "they are Jane & Mr. Bingley". The story itself was cute too. The two main characters, Chloe and Taylor, had some great back and forth banter and though you knew they ended up together, the ride to get there was enjoyable. Can't wait to check out Jenni James's other Jane Austin retellings in this series.

Loved this book. Read it in 2 days - would have finished it sooner but had to sleep! ;) As a lover of young adult fiction - this was the perfect read. Loved the heroine - she was feisty and funny ... loved the banter between her and Taylor. All in all a very good read. Can't wait to read something else by the author! :)

Excellent modern adaptation of the original work by Austen. The characters are well developed and believable. The story flows like buttah. I found myself falling in love with the spunkiness of Chloe and wanting to pal around with Taylor. I had a hard time putting the book down. Congrats Jenni, its a beautiful book. Looking forward to the rest.

Now I can't wait to read this! What do you guys think? Comment!

Write on Con!

I practically had a heart attack because when I went to post my Twitter pitch on the WriteonCon site, the site was down! Well, now I know that this is supposedly a common occurrence there. XD
Here's my post!

Twitter Pitch
When 'Kitty' starts exposing everyone's darkest secrets. Teenager Myra Martin takes the case and she must stop Kitty from killing everyone.

First 100 Word Pitch
Everyone has their different views on life, mine is 'don't sugarcoat it and roll with the flow'. Of course, some people think 'being popular really matters and I have to be like Barbie'. Tiffany was one of those people. She was there, every day of school, behind everyone listening to their conversations. Tiffany was the Queen Bee, the School Diva, the Alpha, and what ever else you want to call her. She was amazing in every which way. . .of course, a few people knew her flaws, and exposed her. Now, to Halle High, she's dead. Barbie girl has disappeared.

Yeah. I know, awesome, right? Well, that's mine and I'm happy! I was like the tenth person to post. Well, what do you think of my post? Comments?

Promptly Saturday (2)

Promptly Saturday!! I didn't take any of these photos, but these are awesome photos. Well, except for the Myra and Beth picture and the Old Navy photo. XD
By the way, I won a ten page critique. . .any tips on how to write 9,000 in a week?

What do you think when you see this cover?
A mystery? A romance?

What are they quarreling about?
Write down their dialogue!

They are the perfect neighbors. . . Or are they keeping secrets?

Who drew this in math class? Bethany, the nerd or maybe it was Ace, the mysterious hottie.

What did this cat see??

Pictures!

Here are some epic pics that I took while on vacay. Cedric and Bertie were getting annoyed with all the pictures, so I made a deal with them, pictures only in Asheville, none in Myrtle Beach. They mainly went to the beach and walked along the pier and people watched. Me? Well I just went to the pool, walked on the pier, and people watched. So we basically did the same thing. XD

Getting ready to answer some questions.

Mrs. Revis and Mrs. McEntire talking. XD
I love this picture!
OMG! *spaz* THEY'RE SIGNING MY PICTURES.
Beautiful.

Yeah, it's out of focus, but it's still a good picture.

Cedric and Bertie about to be eaten by a loin. . .but I saved them!

Going to the gardens where Cedric is visiting friends.

It's going to rain! One last picture!

Okay, it didn't rain right away. So here are some more!

Sniffing the flowers and enjoying the sun while it lasts.

Do you see the dragonfly?

Ahhhhhh. Peace. Serenity. Goldfish? There were fishies in the pond!

My dad thought this was creepy. . .so he took a picture of it. XD

From the helicopter!!

Okay, this is the last picture. I thought this was so cool!

I was vacationing, so I didn't have much time to actually take pictures. These are pretty good. . .right? Well, it did start raining afterwards and then the internet went bye-bye because of the storm. I loved Asheville the most and next year we'll be going to the mountains in Asheville and Virginia. My parents were saying that next time we should bring my dogs. They were so scared and wacky when they came home because they hadn't been in their beds and they hadn't had the food that they were use to.  Well, I need some sleep. Toodles!

P.S. There will be a contest, but I am still collecting stuff for the contest! I promise, there are some super cool stuff in the package!

The curse is alive!

I was almost run over by a helicopter today. Yes, you heard right. My dad and I took a helicopter ride (Uber cool) and the guy didn't tell us when to leave or if we could, and so the helicopter was like hovering, waiting for us to run for it, but then the guy grabbed my dad's shoulder and pulled us back. Almost getting run over is not how I want to spend my summer. XD
About the curse. . .I think there is a curse on my mom's side because my Grandad (as I like to call him) died in a helicopter crash. R.I.P. I'm just glad that the curse didn't take effect now! I don't know if the curse is really a curse, but it spices up my life by saying I think there is a curse on my mom's side of the family. Ya know? :P
BTW, I'm sorry that I haven't been posting. A storm knocked out the internet at our hotel that we were staying at in Asheville. Yes, I have been taking pictures of Bertie and Cedric, but we don't have the cord to transfer pictures from our camera to the computer. -_- Thanks Mom.

P.S. I will post pictures of Bertie and Cedric when I get home, they're actually pretty good if I do say so myself. Some places I was afraid people would think I was nuts for toting around two little action figures/figurines, but once I saw some. . . uhr high (possibly drunk) drug addicts. . .I didn't think people would think I was nuts. . . compared to them, I'm as normal as you can get in Asheville.
P.P.S. I forgot to tell you that at the book signing (Ash to Nash) I almost peed in my pants, I was just that excited. Yes, it's true. I drink A LOT of water when I'm nervous. And Myra McEntire likes the Stephanie Plum series like me. And she read Janet Evanovich's Guide to Writing (she wrote the Stephanie Plum series). I'm reading the series and her book on writing right now. Alright, I'm done babbling!

My Nook shall be signed.

Okay, so all three hard-covered books at the McEntire/Revis/Schwab cost around $53 books all together!!! Yikes. . .
That's how I came up with an idea. If you have a nook, kindle, or an e-reader of some sort. Get your e-reader signed! Yes you heard me right. You can either buy a back for it, or just get them to sign the actual back! Then, you buy the books on the e-reader so that way, you technically have a book and a signed book! It saves a lot of money. As in, now I don't have to buy all three books, I can only buy one hardcover and then wait for the others to get a bit cheaper on my e-reader.
Oooohhhh yeeaaahhh. Oh, and if you don't want to get a back for your e-reader or there is no such thing as a back for your e-reader, you can always just get a plain case. My original idea was to get a black case and then get it signed in silver sharpie. How cool would that be? Pretty cool right?
Super cool article about this.
So what do YOU think? Comment about this, I wanna hear your opinions! :)

P.S. I'm super excited for Promptly Saturday. . . on the road! How special is that? Bertie and Cedric are very excited for the trip tomorrow. I promise I will try and tweet as much as I can tomorrow.

Cedric and Bertie

Like? Mmmmhhh? Like?? Well yeah, that's Cedric on the left, he's a gnome. Then, there's Bertie the hippo on the right, it's a girl.
Why am I posting a picture of them? Because! I'm taking them on my trip to Asheville and Myrtle beach! I'll be taking two pictures a day of both of them together in different place. The first day might be at a hotel, second day they're looking out the window, etc. I'm going to be trying to take pictures of them with my real camera to get better pictures, right now I'm using my iPod and they aren't very good pictures.

I don't think could see her tattoo, but here's a picture. It's a heart. On NCIS Abby has a hippo named Bert, so this is his sister, Bertie. XP
Like that tattoo? Well, I'll post biographies about them soon.
I hope ya'll are as excited as I am for this!

Tennis camp. . really?

I have to go to tennis camp with two of my friends. I really don't want to go and this is the second day so I stayed home. Well, lemme just say this guy is a loon, a nut job, a spaz, an over enthusiastic creepazoid. Then, he gave me a lecture on hand eye cordination, learning, and getting comfortable with the racket. He's scary and I don't want to go to the camp anymore. Tennis is not my forte. . .what ever that means. XD
Well of course, it cost like $90, I don't care. I WANNA GET OUT!!!! Besides, I think I'm depressed because I have a cavity and I'm just that age where "It" starts happening. Also, I found out that when my grandpa died, he didn't hit a deer. . .he hit an RV! Well that makes my day greeeaaatttt. AND my dog is mad at me for no reason AND I grew out of my favorite pair of jeans, and I have to wait four days to get a new pair meaning I only have one pair of shorts and one pair of jeans. I have sweatpants, but still, not the point.
Of course, the camp ends on Thursday, but I can't take much more of this even though it's not even half a day. It's freakin' hot out and lemme just tell you, my shirt and shorts. . .and other things were soaking with sweat. . .and I don't sweat a lot so that must mean it was hot out. If you didn't already realize this, we're outside in the freaking heat. -_-
This sucks. Hopefully you're having a better week than me!
